Calabasas Study Group

A Psychobiological Approach to Couples Psychotherapy®
This group is a hybrid of training,
supervision, and reading new materials. It traditionally is without agenda and
more casual than the other groups. However, it is often more spontaneous and
alive with new ideas, new clinical videos, Ekman facial coding, Strange
Situation, and other features not enjoyed in the more structured groups. This
study group is a two-hour *biweekly meeting requiring a 6-month commitment of
time and financial responsibility. Please do not join if you believe you cannot
fulfill such a commitment. Fee per meeting is $75 payable either prior to or on
each date. Payment can be made by check, cash, or via PayPal. If you decide to
use PayPal, please note that there will be an added processing fee of $2.25.
Continuing education credits are available through Lifespan Learning Institute (LLI)
at a fee of $50 payable to LLI when requesting a certificate. You are
financially responsible for holding your seat, however, a maximum of two
cancellations will be allowed. The calendar of meetings can be found
here.
* - Some months may have less than two
meetings
The purpose of this group is:
-
to study the current information and
trends within and between the seemingly disparate fields of attachment,
infant brain development, developmental object relations, arousal and affect regulation and neuroscience,
and gain knowledge from them;
-
to integrate this knowledge in a useful
and meaningful way;
-
to apply this knowledge to the work with
couples;
-
to formulate interventions
based on our understanding of the mind-brain-body problem.
Participants of this group will become familiar and eventually fluent
in all aspects of the developmental psychobiological approach (arousal/affect
regulation and attachment), and will be able to clinically
integrate and make use of this approach in clinical
practice.
